I began attending births in October 1998, after the birth of my youngest child. I have had the honor and privelege to attend over 60 births in settings that range from hospital to birthcenter to home. In April 2000, I began teaching childbirth education classes at the local birthcenter. I am currently working on certification through ALACE.
Recently, I decided to complete the certification process for birth doula. I attended a DONA approved training workshop and I am gathering the necessary paperwork to complete certification through DONA and ALACE.
To keep abreast of current issues in the birth field, I maintain memberships in the International Childbirth Educators Association, Doulas of North America, the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators, Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association and the Association of Texas Midwives.
